What Are Rotary Dampers?

Rotary dampers actually look, and often act, the same as gears look and act. However, they are not gears. They are indeed rotary dampers. The function of rotary dampers is to control motion. They are most often used to stop or slow the movement of other parts of an application or product. A good example of rotary dampers is the rotary dampers that are used in modern drawers. When you pull the drawer out, you will notice that it stops at some point. It is the rotary damper that causes the drawer to stop, and prevents the drawer from being pulled all the way out of a cabinet or dresser. Without the rotary dampers, the drawer would most likely come all the way out, which isn’t what we want.
